NEC Spring Academic Honors

Somerset, NJ -- One of the most acclaimed collections of student-athletes in Northeast Conference (NEC) history were honored last week with 2022 Spring Scholar-Athlete awards.

Bryant University placed 51 student-athletes on the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll and 196 were named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll.

This superb group included both NEC Female Team Student-Athlete of the Year honorees, a CoSIDA Academic All-American, two NEC Player of the Year winners, the NEC Pitcher of the Year, five who helped their teams to NEC titles this spring and eight student-athletes who posted at least a 3.9 cumulative grade point average. There were also three repeat NEC Scholar-Athlete winners among the ten who were recognized.

FDU and Saint Francis U each had a pair of student-athletes who earned accolades, and six other schools sported one honoree apiece.

All scholar-athlete award winners have compiled a minimum of 60 semester hours at their institution, maintained a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 and participated with distinction as a member of a varsity team.

Along with the scholar-athletes, the NEC also announced its Spring Academic Honor Roll, consisting of 1,570 student-athletes with a 3.20 or better grade-point average. There were also a record 528 student-athletes named to the spring Commissioner's Honor Roll, recognizing those superior student-athletes with a 3.75 or better grade point average.

Over the course of the 2021-22 academic year, a league record 3,826 NEC student-athletes landed a spot on the Academic Honor Roll, a 2.1 bump from last year's all-time mark. That figure also represents over two-thirds of NEC competitors. Likewise, a record 1,473 student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, an astronomical 26.0 percent jump from the previous standard set in 2020-21.
