SMITHFIELD, RI - Thanks to everyone who participated and volunteered for the hugely successful Black & Gold Golf Tournament Friday afternoon at Crystal Lake Golf Club.
Under beautiful sunny skies, more than 100 golfers turned out to help raise money for Bryant University Athletics. All of Bryant's 22 Division I varsity sports teams were present and represented by former athletes and coaches.
Former Bryant baseball standout Eric Loh won the longest drive contest with a drive of more than 330 yards while Laura Nesteriak won the women's longest drive.
With the course in tremendous shape, scores were very low with the winning foursome of Mark Bloom, Gerry Santos, Jim and Adam Fernandes winning with a round of 51. Richard LeFleur, Justin LeFleur, Ed Margo and Glenn Pratt were a close second with a 10 under 61.
Following the round, golfers enjoyed a steak dinner in the club house while raffle items such as a trip to Camden Yards including travel and hotel to see the Red Sox - Orioles on Aug. 1 and several Jet Blue travel vouchers for round-trip flights anywhere in the U.S.
Thanks for everyone's support. See you in 2010 !
