Michael Cohen is facing cross-examination this afternoon in former President Trump's criminal hush money trial in New York. Earlier today, Cohen testified that he instructed Stormy Daniels' lawyer to lie about an alleged sexual encounter with the former President. It's Cohen's second day on the stand and he's expected to be the final witness for the prosecution. Trump is charged with criminally falsifying business records.       Millions across the U.S. are coping with another day of heavy smoke from dozens of wildfires raging in Canada. As the smoke shifts south, Topeka, Kansas and Kansas City are dealing with the worst air quality in the country. The smoke is expected to linger in parts of the Midwest through Tuesday before a cold front will bring rain and clearer conditions.        New data shows inflation remains stubbornly high. The Labor Department reported a half-percent jump in the producer price index last month which is nearly double what economists expected. Those wholesale prices are a key gauge of inflation and come just ahead of Wednesday's consumer price index.       Central and Northern Florida are bracing for possible tornadoes, damaging winds and up to five inches of rain. The latest round of severe weather follows storms that slammed the Southeast region yesterday, leaving at least two people dead in Louisiana. The Ohio and Tennessee valleys are also under the threat of severe weather today.        The NHL's Stanley Cup Playoffs feature two games tonight. In the East, the Boston Bruins will look to avoid elimination when they take on the Panthers in Florida for game five. The Panthers lead that series three games to one. In the West, the Vancouver Canucks will take on the Edmonton Oilers in game four of their series. The Canucks hold a two games to one lead.       America's new top dog will be named tonight in New York. One of the three-thousand dogs taking part will earn the title "Best in Show" at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Judges will select the best of the Sporting, Working and Terrier breeds, before they name the "Best in Show" to conclude the event.
