BRYANT FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL TO RETURN TO WOON 1240 AM IN 2009-10
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - For the second year in a row, Bryant University football fans throughout Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts will be able follow the Bulldogs on the local radio airwaves this fall. The Bryant University Athletics Department is pleased to announce it has signed on with Woonsocket, RI-based WOON 1240 AM to carry all home and away football games in 2009.
WOON 1240 AM will broadcast all eleven games this season as the school embarks on its second year of Division I football. John McCarthy, the longtime voice of Bulldog football, will return behind the microphone to call the live action starting September 5 when Bryant entertains Southern Connecticut in the season opener starting at 3 pm.
"We were very pleased with the partnership we had with WOON 1240 AM last season," said Director of Athletics Bill Smith. "To be able to showcase the success of our student-athletes during this exciting time in Bryant Athletics is very important for alumni and fans throughout the region."
Also, WOON 1240 AM will broadcast the Marty Fine Football Coaches Show each Monday night throughout the season. In addition, fans outside the listening area can still follow the Bulldogs one WOON's website at www.onworldwide.com.
This winter, WOON 1240 AM will also carry Bryant University men's basketball games with Jon Wallach returning for his second year calling the live action courtside. The men's basketball broadcast schedule will feature all home and selected road games in 2009-10.
