FRIDAY'S NORTHEAST-10 TOURNAMENT GAME VS. PACE UNIVERSITY MOVED UP TO 4 P.M. START DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST
RINDGE, N.H. -- The No. 1 seeded Bryant University baseball team opens Northeast-10 Conference Tournament action today, taking on No. 5 Pace University in a 4 p.m. matchup at host Franklin Pierce's Pappas Field. Gametime has been moved up from 7 p.m. to 4 p.m. due to weather forecasts.
The Bulldogs (38-17) enter the double-elimination phase of the NE-10 Tournament as the 2008 regular-season champions, and are ranked No. 12 in the nation by the NCBWA and No. 28 by Collegiate Baseball. The Setters (30-21) and the Bulldogs faced off last weekend in Pleasantville, NY, with Bryant sweeping the Saturday doubleheader in a pair of pitching duels, 3-0 in Game One and 1-0 in a 10-inning Game Two affair.
Third-seeded host Franklin Pierce (36-12) opens up the double-elimination weekend portion of the conference tournament at 1 p.m. Friday, taking on second-seeded Southern Connecticut State University (33-15), who is among teams receiving votes nationally.
Franklin Pierce and Pace both advanced to this weekend's championship round with first-round wins on Wednesday over Bentley and UMass Lowell, respectively.
Tournament play will continue on Saturday with an elimination game at 11 a.m., a winner's bracket game at 3 p.m., and another elimination contest at 7 p.m. Sunday will feature the championship round at noon, with an "if necessary" game at 3 p.m.
Admission for each day of the NE-10 Championships will be $5 for adults, $3 for students with a valid ID, senior citizens and children over the age of five.
