NEC HONORS MOUNTFORD FOR STELLAR WEEK

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Jordan Mountford (Guelph, Ont.) helped the Bryant University baseball team reach 40 wins over the weekend and was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week for his efforts on Monday.

Mountford hit .500 (8-for-16), drove in three runs and scored three runs to earn the first weekly honor of his career. He started the series with Wagner with back-to-back three-hit games. On Thursday, Mountford, doubled, tripled and drove in a run, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. He followed that by propelling the Bulldogs past the Seahawks in game one of Friday's doubleheader. Mountford led off the game with a single, stole second and scored on a double. He then walloped his third home run of the year to give Bryant an all-important insurance run. In Sunday's finale, Mountford doubled in a run and crossed the plate for the 40th time this year.

The top seed in this week's NEC tournament, the Bulldogs open play on Thursday, May 23 at 12:00 p.m. against LIU Brooklyn.
