Bingel, Karinchak pitch way to NEC, ECAC weekly honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Brandon Bingel (Peabody, Mass.) and freshman James Karinchak (Walden, N.Y.) each tossed seven scoreless innings this past weekend to help the Bryant University baseball team earn a series win over Sacred Heart and were named the Northeast Conference and ECAC Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Monday.

It marks the first career honor for Bingel, while Karinchak has now been named the NEC Rookie of the Week four-straight weeks and five times overall.

Starting the series finale against the Pioneers, Bingel scattered five hits over seven scoreless innings. He walked one batter and struck out a career-high five batters. Bingel's dominant start helped the Black and Gold to a series victory with a 15-2 win.

Karinchak continued to dominate NEC teams as he tossed his fourth-straight complete game on Saturday. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out six in his third shutout of the season. Karinchak is now 4-0 with a 0.64 ERA in four league starts.
