Summer ball wrap: Four win summer league titles

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The summer of 2017 will go down as one of the best for the Bryant University baseball program as the Bulldogs had players on championship teams in the Cape Cod League, the Cal Ripken League and the Futures Collegiate League. 

Highlights

• Senior Mickey Gasper (Merrimack, N.H.) enjoyed one of the best summers in program history. He helped Brewster win the Cape Cod League Championship for the first time since 2000. Gasper drove in six runs, scored five times and walked eight times during the Whitecaps' championship run. He received the John Caffey Award for New England Top Prospect and was also named Brewster's team MVP and the Coaches' Captain Award winner. Following the summer, Gasper was ranked No. 133 in D1Baseball's top 200 Cape League prospects.
• Sophomore Jimmy Titus (Stafford, Conn.) was ranked No. 8 in Baseball America's Top 10 New England Collegiate Baseball League prospects following his strong summer in Ocean State. He was also named to the All-NECBL Second Team. 
• Redshirt freshman Nash Eppard (Essex, Conn.) and sophomore Gaby Cruz (Miami, Fla.) helped Bethesda win its second-straight Cal Ripken League title. Eppard struck out 30 batters in 28 innings, while Cruz hit .275 in 19 games. 
• Redshirt junior Justin Snyder (Georgetown, Mass.) helped Nashua win its second-straight Futures Collegiate Baseball League Championship this summer. Snyder, who missed most of the spring with an injury, was second on the team in appearances (17) and struck out 22 batters in 22 2/3 innings. 
• Sophomore Mason Palmieri (Lincoln, R.I.) was named to the All-FCBL First Team after an impressive summer with Brockton. He finished second in the league with a 2.02 ERA, struck out 41 and walked just 12 in 43 innings. Palmieri allowed three earned runs or less in all 11 of his appearances. 
• Incoming freshman Tyler Mattison (Fort Ann, N.Y.) starred for Glens Falls in the Perfect Game League. He struck out 41 batters in 28 2/3 innings and was named the No. 4 pro prospect in the league by both Perfect Game and Baseball America. 
• Gasper, Titus, Palmieri, Mattison, junior Nathan Wrighter (Windsor, N.Y.) and sophomore Jack Ipsen (Eatontown, N.J.) all participated in their respective league's All-Star Game.
