Bulldogs fall to Northeastern on Tuesday

BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Bryant University baseball team fell to Northeastern, 5-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

Bryant's pitching staff walked just three and struck out eight in defeat. Five relievers combined to allow two runs (one earned) on six hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Jake Gustin paced the offense with a pair of hits.

• Teddy Beaudet put the Huskies on the board with a two-out, two-run single through the right side in the bottom of the second.  

How it Happened

• A walk and an infield single put the first runners on in the second for Northeastern. After a ground out advanced the runners, Michael Stellato cut down a potential run at the plate. Beaudet, however, followed with a two-run single through the right side.
• The Huskies completed their scoring with sac flies in the third, fifth and sixth.

• Northeastern outhit Bryant, 9-4.
• Gustin finished 2-for-4.
• Derek Smith went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
• Luke Garofalo allowed three runs on three hits over 2.0 innings.
• John MacDonald tossed 2.1 innings of relief, surrendering one run on three hits. He struck out two.
• Mike Randazzo retired both batters he faced.
• Austin Wainer, Liam LeVangie and Christian Allegretti all tossed an inning of relief. LeVangie and Allegretti each struck out a pair.

• Gustin now has five multi-hit games on the year.

Bryant opens Northeast Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Merrimack. The Bulldogs and Warriors will play a single game on Saturday and a doubleheader on Sunday.
