Schoff signs with Washington Nationals

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant Baseball right-hander Tyler Schoff signed a free agent contract with the Washington Nationals following the conclusion of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.

Schoff joins Tyler Mattison and Liam McGill in this year's class of Bulldogs that will go on to play professional baseball. Mattison was drafted in the fourth round by the Detroit Tigers, while McGill was taken in the ninth round by the Atlanta Braves.

A Second Team All-NEC selection this spring, Schoff teamed with Mattison to form the league's best 1-2 punch. He finished the year 7-1 with a 3.12 ERA in 69.1 innings. Schoff struck out 72 and issued just 14 walks on the year. He saved his best for last, striking out 19 and issuing just three walks over 15.0 scoreless innings in his last two starts. Schoff's first-career NEC Tournament start will go down as one of the best in program history as he struck out a career-high 10 and allowed just three hits over 8.0 scoreless innings. He finished his career with a 9-5 record and a 4.61 ERA in 125.0 innings.
