Bryant, CCSU meet in key NEC series at Conaty Park

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University baseball team begins a crucial Northeast Conference series on Friday afternoon when it welcomes Central Connecticut to Conaty Park. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs and Blue Devils enter the weekend separated by two games in the NEC standings. CCSU is tied for first with a 14-7 record, while Bryant is tied for third with a 12-9 record.

Friday starts a string of seven-straight home games to close out the regular season.

  • Lowe is coming off a tough outing at LIU in which he allowed eight runs (one earned) on eight hits over 6.0 innings. A majority of the damage came in a six-run first inning.
  • Lowe is 4-1 with a 2.34 in NEC play.
  • Wichrowski will also look to bounce back after a short start that saw him last just 2.1 innings last weekend at LIU.
  • Logan Frasier continued to pitch well, striking out six over 4.0 innings of two-run ball. He is 3-1 with a 2.79 ERA in league play. 

Bryant vs. CCSU

  • Bryant owns a 42-18 lead in the all-time series but the Blue Devils have won four of the last five. CCSU won each of games of a doubleheader to win the series earlier this year between the two teams.
  • Bryant and CCSU have also met in each of the last two NEC Championship games, both won by CCSU.

  • Bryant is 22-23 overall and 12-9 in NEC play. The Bulldogs dropped their third NEC series of the year last weekend at LIU.  
  • In NEC play, Bryant is fourth with a .289 team batting average and third with a 4.46 team ERA. The Bulldogs are second in fielding percentage and have turned 18 double plays.
  • Bryant pitching has struck out a 173 batters, second in the NEC.
  • Matt Woods is hitting .403 in NEC play with five doubles, two triples and three home runs. He leads Bryant with 21 multi-hit games on the year. 
  • Alex Lane has six doubles, five home runs and 26 RBI in NEC play. On the year, he's posted 14 doubles, 11 home runs and 46 RBI.
  • John Tuccillo is tied for the league lead with nine doubles in NEC play.
