Athletes of the Week
Field Hockey

Rauff scored the first goal at the brand new Bryant Field hockey astroturf and also added an assist as the Bulldogs beat Merrimack, 3-1. The three points were her first three points of the season. 

Men's Soccer

Valor finished with four points (1g, 2a) in Bryant's victory over Holy Cross last week. He contributed to all three first-half goals and was awarded America East Offensive Player of the Week honors and was named to the TopDrawSoccer and College Soccer News Team of the Week.

Women's Lacrosse

Weber snapped Bryant’s all-time single-game scoring record when she poured out nine in the 16-10 victory at UMass Lowell. The sophomore surpassed Jess Demeo ’19 and Allison Faiola ’10 in the record book and now sits at second all-time with Shaun Leddy ’07 and Faiola with 10 points with an added assist. Weber also tallied career-highs as she led the team with four groundballs and tied her career-best with two caused turnovers. She also added a career-high of four draw controls.

Men's Lacrosse

McGovern tied Bryant’s freshman single-game record for points with eight in Saturday’s 16-5 win at Manhattan. The attackman from Connecticut scored five goals and added three assists, matching the eight-point showing by Marc O’Rourke in 2018 against Mount St. Mary’s. McGovern is the fifth player in Bryant’s Division I history with a game of eight or more points, joining Tucker James – who achieved the feat four times – O’Rourke, Zack Greer and Peter McMahon.

Women's Swimming

Grenon took home two of Bryant’s 11 gold medals this weekend to help the women’s swimming and diving team repeat for the third-straight season as Northeast Conference Champions. The Connecticut native also set new school records in both of her first-place performances. In the 1650 freestyle, Grenon set a record-breaking time of 17:02.34 before setting a new record in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:22.79. Grenon’s dominating NEC Championship debut earned her the title of Rookie of the Meet.

Men's Tennis

Argentini earned victories at No. 2 singles this past weekend against East Carolina and Georgia Southern. His three-set victory over Georgia Southern’s Diego Finkelstein helped the Bulldogs earn a 4-3 victory over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the weekend, Argentini also topped Eastern Carolina’s No. 2 singles competitor in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.

Women's Basketball

Holloway posted a dominant weekend offensively for the Black and Gold, helping the Bulldogs split the weekend against both Central Connecticut and Merrimack. The Morgantown native averaged 20.5 points across the weekend as she tied her season-high of 22 points against Merrimack on Monday. On Saturday, Holloway helped the Bulldogs outlast CCSU with a dominating 19-point performance. The senior posted eight rebounds in each of the two games including one assist and two steals in each outing.

Men's Swimming

Wong took home two of Bryant’s five gold medals that were earned at the MAAC Championship this past weekend. The sophomore dominated in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke as he set new MAAC and school records in each event. In the 100 breast, Wong set a record-breaking time of 53.40 for the gold medal. Wong followed up with yet another record-breaking performance in the 200 breast with a time of 1:57.52. The Bulldogs finished third at the championship meet winning a total of nine medals. Five were gold, two were silver, and one was bronze.

Women's Basketball

Holloway led the Bulldogs in a 2-0 weekend with wins over Central Connecticut and St. Francis Brooklyn. Holloway went into Saturday’s game needing just one rebound to break the 1,000 career milestone and instead was one shy of a double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds. The Morgantown native is now the third Bulldog in Bryant’s Division I history to post both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Holloway’s offensive dominance continued into Monday when the senior posted her first 20-point game of the season with 22 points, 14 rebounds in the 78-59 win over St. Francis Brooklyn.

Men's Basketball

Harding averaged 14.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs with home victories over St. Francis Brooklyn and Central Connecticut. The sophomore collected a double-double in Thursday’s win over the Terriers with a career-high 14 points to go along with 15 rebounds and hauled in 13 more boards in Saturday’s win over the Blue Devils. Harding, who climbed from ninth to sixth on Bryant’s Division I career rebounding list over the weekend, has nine games of 10 or more rebounds this season and four of 15 or more, giving the forward from Connecticut four of the top seven single-game rebounding performances in Bryant’s D1 era.

Women's Track and Field

Cluck led the women with a record-breaking performance in the 400m at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic. Cluck finished second out of 139 runners on Friday with a record-breaking time of 54.88. Not only did Cluck break the school record, but she became a NEICAAA and ECAC qualifier, and is now ranked first in New England and the Northeast Conference in the event. The senior also ranks 40th in the country for her efforts.

Men's Basketball

Grant shot 61% from beyond the arc on the weekend to help the Black & Gold to a 1-1 weekend that included a convincing home win over Wagner. The senior from Virginia made six threes against Wagner and five at Mount St. Mary’s on his way to scoring 23.5 points per game. Grant’s 74 made three-pointers this season rank fifth in the nation and he enters Thursday’s game at Robert Morris two points shy of Dyami Starks for second on Bryant’s Division I scoring list and within three of Starks’ program-record 281 made threes.

Women's Swimming

Scifo shined for the Bulldogs in a pair of meets over the weekend in Smithfield. The senior took home four first-place individual finishes accompanied by a winning relay squad and one second-place finish. On Friday, Jan. 17, Scifo helped the Black and Gold top UMass, 180-114, for the first time since 2012 as she racked up the most points of any individual swimmer with 22. To start the day on Friday, the 200 medley relay team of Kayleigh Canavan (Cumberland, R.I.), Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland), Alyvia Beaudion (Cypress, Texas), and Scifo finished first overall with a time of 1:47.30. She followed the relay performance by taking first-place in both the 100 backstroke (59.45) and 200 backstroke (2:07.56). Scifo also finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.55 to close out the meet on Friday. On Saturday, Scifo tallied nothing but first-place finishes in her individual events as she dominated again in the 100 backstroke (59.70) and 200 backstroke (2:06.75) to help the Bulldogs take down Rider, 159-122, on Senior Day.

Men's Indoor Track and Field

Canale helped the men’s track and field team to its best finish to date at the Bates Invitational on Saturday. The sophomore led the Bulldogs by setting a new school record in the 600m. Canale took home first-place out of 11 runners and crossed the finish line with a record-breaking time of 1:22.36. Before Saturday, Canale sat at fourth all-time in Bryant’s top-10 record book in the 600m with a time of 1:26.07, which he set in 2019 at the same meet. Canale surpassed Michael DiBella ’11 who set the previously held record in 2010 with a time of 1:23.65.

Women's Basketball

Gallagher posted back-to-back double-figure scoring performances in her NEC debut. Against Saint Francis U, Gallagher posted 14 points, four assists, and four rebounds. In Bryant’s first conference victory at Fairleigh Dickinson, the rookie netted 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists. She now averages 12 points in conference play.
