Bulldogs back in action

Providence, R.I. - After a 396 day layoff from competitions, the Bryant University Men's Volleyball team returned to action over the weekend to participate in a tournament hosted by Rhode Island College.

The team has been working hard in practices since early fall and we thrilled to be competiting in what has been a challenging year for all.  The team went 6-4 on the day with a fourth place finish in the tournament. The competition was tough, Bryant squared off against  other collegiate club teams, D3 varsity teams. The produced wins over Coast Guard, CCSU, UMass Lowell, Northeastern, and Sacred Heart.

Captains, Jakob Britton-Doucette, Ryan Donohue, and Ziv Yu, brought exceptional leadership and consistency to the team throughout the day. Junior Libero, Matt Melnychuck, brought the defensive effort  needed to win games and Junior Setter, Dan Cloutier, did a phenomenal job running and evenly distributing our offense.

Head Coach Taylor van der Biezen said, "I am extremely proud of how the guys played our first tournament and am excited with the depth we have on the team." We are hopeful and excited to continue our success throughout April with a few more local matches.

The bulldogs look to keep the season rolling for the rest of the spring semester.
