BULLDOG ATHLETICS WELCOMES BACK ALUMNI WITH A FULL SLATE OF EVENTS HOMECOMING WEEKEND 2009

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University Athletic Department and many of it 22 varsity sports will be hosting events this weekend, Oct. 2-4, for Homecoming 2009, headlined by the Bulldog football team's 1 p.m. Saturday matchup against Wagner College.

The weekend will be packed with 14 different events over three days, while seven Bryant programs will hold alumni games.

The weekend will kick off Friday, Oct. 2 at 6:00 p.m. with the men's and women's swimming alumni race, followed by two regular-season matchups from the women's soccer and volleyball teams.

Women's soccer will take on Central Connecticut at 7:00 p.m. at the Bryant Turf Complex while the volleyball team will be hosting the same opponent inside the Chace Athletic Center (7:00 p.m.).

Friday action will conclude with a 9:00 p.m. Pep Rally at the Bryant Pond. Student-athletes from all Bulldog sports will join the student body, as well as the Bryant Pep Band and the Bryant Cheerleaders.

The Bryant football Homecoming Game will headline Saturday action (1 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium), but will be the last event to start.

The day opens with a pair of 9:00 a.m. alumni games, as the Bulldog women's lacrosse team welcomes its own back on campus. The men's lacrosse team will follow on the turf with a 10:00 a.m. scrimmage against EDGE, Canada. The men's soccer team will also host its alumni game at 10:00 a.m.

Baseball will welcome its alumni for a 10:30 a.m. game at the Bryant Baseball Complex, while softball will host its own alumni contest at 11:00 a.m.

On Sunday, Bryant Athletics urges alumni, students and student-athletes alike to join in the Ninth-Annual Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Cross Country Race/Walk, which will kick off at 1:00 p.m.

At the same time, the men's soccer team will host St. Francis (NY) at Bulldog Stadium in their first conference home game of the season. The JV football squad will host the Naval Academy at the Bryant Turf Complex (1 p.m.).
