Covitz named All-New England for third-straight year

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior defensive end Jeff Covitz (Reading, Mass.) earned All-New England honors from the New England Football Writers Association for the third-straight year, it was announced on Monday.

Covitz, a three-time First Team All-NEC selection and the NEC Defensive Player of the Year this fall, wrapped up one of the most decorated defensive careers in program history. He collected a career-high 59 tackles, eight sacks and a single-season program record 23 tackles for a loss. Covitz wrapped up his career with an NEC-record 29.5 sacks, a program record 66 tackles for a loss in 45 career games.

In addition, Covitz also became the first player in program history to be named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List. Given to the top defensive player in the FCS, Covitz is a finalist for the award.
