Covitz earns Sports Network All-American honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The honors continue to roll in for senior defensive end Jeff Covitz (Reading, Mass.) as he was named a Sports Network Second Team All-American on Tuesday.

Covitz becomes the third player in program history to earn Sports Network All-American honors. He has now earned All-American accolades from three different outlets.

A finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, Covitz wrapped up one of the best defensive careers in program history. He finished the year with 59 tackles, eight sacks and 23 tackles for a loss and became the Northeast Conference's all-time leader in sacks with 29.5. Covitz closes his career in Smithfield with 191 tackles and 66 tackles for a loss in 45 career games. He played in every game possible over the past four years.
