Series History

Saturday will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and the Black Bears. Maine leads the series 3-1 but Bryant won the most recent meeting, 13-10 on Sept. 13, 2014. Chad Ward caught the game-winning touchdown with 2:04 remaining in the game. The Bulldogs have made two previous trips to Orono, losing 28-13 in 2011 and 35-22 in 2013.

Notes and Notables for Week 5

Bryant enters Saturday with the top-scoring offense in the Northeast Conference, averaging 34.2 points per game.

Starting Saturday, the Black and Gold will play five of their final seven games on the road.

The Bulldogs hadn't beaten a member of the Colonial Athletic Association prior to the 2014 season. Bryant changed that in 2014, defeating Stony Brook and Maine within the first three weeks of the season.

Junior FB Hunter Taute (Norfolk, Mass.) enters week 5 leading the Bulldogs with three rushing touchdowns. No fullback has ever led the Bulldogs in rushing scores in a season.

Freshman LB Jesse Nemerowicz (Hudson, Mass.) has posted a team-high 20 tackles through the first four games of the year and is one of only two freshmen in the NEC to average at least 5.0 tackles per game.

Senior Dalton Easton (Miami, Fla.) enters Saturday just 254 passing yards shy of becoming only the second QB in school history to throw for 6,000 yards in a career. He is also only four TD passes shy of tying the Bryant program record.

A bit about the Black Bears

Maine enters Saturday's game looking for its first win of the 2016 season. The Black Bears opened the year with back-to-back games against FBS members UConn and Toledo before hosting No. 11 James Madison last weekend. Maine lost by just three to the Huskies and held a fourth-quarter lead against the Dukes.
