Bryant visits Merrimack Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team hits the road for the first time in nearly a month when it travels to North Andover, Massachusetts, to face Merrimack on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Merrimack is in its first season of transition from a DII program to a DI program and therefore Saturday's game won't count towards the league standings.

Series History

  • Bryant and Merrimack will be meeting for the 16th time in program history on Saturday.
  • The Bulldogs own an 8-6 lead in the series, having won each of the last seven meetings.
  • Bryant and Merrimack last met in the 2017 opener with the Bulldogs earning a 49-41 victory. The Bulldogs have scored 34+ points in each of the last eight meetings.
  • The Bulldogs and Warriors met nine times as Northeast-10 rivals before Bryant jumped to DI in 2008.
  • This will be Bryant's first trip to North Andover since 2007.  

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters Saturday at 0-5 overall and 0-1 in NEC play following a 16-6 loss to Saint Francis U last Saturday.
  • This is the first time since 2012 that the Black and Gold have started 0-5.
  • The Bulldogs rank second in the NEC in passing defense (159.2) and second in passing defense efficiency (110.9).
  • Senior Vincent Nisivoccia (Nutley, N.J.) already has 42 catches on the season, leading the NEC with 8.4 catches per game. He has 282 receiving yards.
  • Classmate Gavin Rowley (Hampstead, Md.) leads the NEC with 42.5 yards per punt. He set a single-game program record with 464 punt yards vs. SFU.
  • Senior Jesse Nemerowicz (Hudson, Mass.) leads the defense with 44 tackles and now has 269 in his career.
  • Junior David Onyemem (Dracut, Mass.) made a career-high 11 tackles in week five and is second on the team with 31 stops.
  • Classmate Andre Brackett (East Windsor, Conn.) has been a key member of Bryant's defensive secondary, posting two interceptions and five pass breakups.  

A bit about the Warriors

  • The Warriors are 2-3 on the season following a 10-3 loss to Lehigh last weekend.
  • That record also includes a last-second loss, 40-37, to Central Connecticut in week two.
  • Merrimack is averaging 35 points per game and 371 yards of offense per game.
  • Matt Brehon has rushed for 302 yards and five TDs, Marquis Spence has 39 catches for 390 yards and five TDs and Christian Carter has thrown for 1,091 yards and nine scores.
  • Spence posted 16 catches for 175 yards last week vs. Lehigh.
  • Jovan Grant has a team-high 36 tackles, while Cory Hagerman has 4.0 sacks and 5.5 TFLs.
