SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team travels to Staten Island on Saturday afternoon to take on Wagner College in the final game of the 2019 season.

Series History

  • Bryant and Wagner are meeting for the 12th time in program history.
  • The Bulldogs hold a 7-4 lead in the all-time series.
  • Bryant had won three straight in the series before Wagner earned a 52-36 win last fall.
  • Broghean McGovern became the first QB in school history to post a rushing TD and a receiving TD in the same game.     

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters Saturday at 3-8 overall and 2-4 in the Northeast Conference following a 20-16 victory over Duquesne last Saturday.
  • The Bulldogs had four players finish with double-digit tackles as they improved to 8-4 all-time against the Dukes.  
  • Bryant has been led by three senior defenders that will be playing their final collegiate game on Saturday.
  • Senior Jesse Nemerowicz (Hudson, Mass.) is the only player in school history with 300+ career tackles, having posted 89 stops this year. He is 11th among active FCS players with 8.24 tkls/gm.
  • Classmate Tomas Wright (St. Augustine, Fla.) is Bryant's all-time leader in sacks with 30.5 and is enjoying a career year this fall. He's posted 66 tackles, 9.0 sacks and 16.5 TFLs.
  • Wright is fifth among active FCS players in career sacks.   
  • Robert Brown (Palmetto Bay, Fla.) has posted 45 tackles in his last three games, including a career-high 17 last time out. He became the 13th player in school history to record 200 career stops.
  • Brown leads the Bulldogs with 95 tackles and could become just the third player in school history to record 100+ tackles in a season.
  • Junior Andre Brackett (East Windsor, Conn.) is also enjoying a great season, posting 47 tackles, three interceptions and six pass breakups.
  • Offensively, Hunter Hill (Memphis, Tenn.) leads Bryant with five total TDs (4 rcv, 1 rush). He recorded a 39-yard rushing score last Saturday.
  • Junior Luke Samperi (Beverly, Mass.) enters Saturday's game with a chance to break the school record for field goals in a single season. He is 11-for-13.      

A bit about the Seahawks

  • Wagner is 1-10 overall and 1-5 in NEC play.
  • The Seahawks are averaging just 14.1 ppg and allowing 27.7 ppg.
  • Wagner features two of the league's top defenders in Santoni Graham and Cam Gill.
  • Graham has 81 tackles, while Gill has 10.5 sacks this season and is the NECs career leader in the category with 34.0.
  • QB Christian Alexander is averaging 168.6 yards of total offense per game and has seven passing TDs and five rushing TDs.
