Bryant announces 2022 Big South schedule; 4 non-conference games

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – A day after joining the Big South Conference as an affiliate member, the Bryant University football team is excited to announce its 2022 Big South schedule.

The BSC officially announced its league-wide schedule on Wednesday, March 30, with each of the league's six teams set for a five-game conference slate. Bryant became the sixth member of the BSC, joining full-time members Campbell (Buies Creek, N.C.), Charleston Southern (Charleston, S.C.) and Gardner-Webb (Boiling Springs, N.C.), plus associate football-only institutions in North Carolina A&T (Greensboro, N.C.) and Robert Morris (Moon Township, Pa.).

Bryant will play its first-ever Big South game on October 8 when it travels to North Carolina A&T. The Bulldogs' first Big South home game will come the following weekend when Charleston Southern makes the trip to Smithfield on October 15.

The Black and Gold will also make trips to Gardner-Webb (Oct. 29) and Robert Morris (Nov. 19). Bryant will welcome Campbell to Beirne Stadium on Nov. 5.

Bryant will be facing NC A&T, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern and Campbell for first the first time in program history, while the Bulldogs and Colonials will renew a series that began when both were members of the Northeast Conference from 2008-2019.

In addition, Bryant also announced its first four non-conference games for the 2022 season. The Bulldogs will open the season on Thursday, September 1 when they face FBS-member Florida International in University Park, Florida.

Bryant opens its home schedule the following week when it welcomes in-state foe Rhode Island to Beirne Stadium. It will be the second-straight year the two teams play and it will be URI's first trip to Smithfield. Bryant will make it two-straight games against in-state opponents when it travels to Brown on September 17.

The Black and Gold will also face defending Patriot League champion Holy Cross on November 12 in Worcester.
