Bryant hosts No. 22 URI on Saturday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team will host No. 22 University of Rhode Island on Saturday night at Beirne Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:02 p.m. 

Saturday's game will mark the first time the Bulldogs will host the Rams in Smithfield and it will be the first time Bryant has faced a ranked opponent at home since No. 25 Robert Morris came to Smithfield on Nov. 13, 2010. The Bulldogs earned a 27-21 victory that day.

Series History

  • Bryant and URI will be meeting for the third time in program history.
  • URI has won each of the meetings, including a 45-21 victory last season in Kingston.   

Welcome to Beirne Stadium

  • Bryant will play the first of just four games at home this season on Saturday night. 
  • The Bulldogs completed their first undefeated home season in DI program history last fall, going 4-0.  

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters week 2 with an 0-1 record following a 38-37 overtime loss at FBS member FIU last Thursday.
  • The Bulldogs completed 10-of-17 third down conversions in the game. 
  • Zevi Eckhaus was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week after completing 18-of-22 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown. He finished with 279 yards of total offense and two total TDs.
  • Ishod Byarm record a pair of rushing touchdowns, while Jihad Edmond and Anthony Frederick recorded receiving touchdowns. 
  • All three have now scored in back-to-back games dating back to last year. 
  • Frederick finished with 101 receiving yards and 196 all-purpose yards.
  • Jalen Powell led the team with eight receptions for 81 yards. 
  • Ryan Saddler and Joe Andreessen combined for 23.0 tackles at FIU. Saddler posted a team-high 13, while Andreessen added 10.0 tackles and 2.0 TFLs. 

A bit about the Rams

  • URI enters the weekend ranked No. 22 in the FCS. The Rams were one win away from possibly earning an at-large selection to the FCS Playoffs last season.
  • The Rams opened the year with a 35-14 win over CAA foe Stony Brook last Thursday. The Rams intercepted three passes in the game. 
  • Kasim Hill threw for 2,170 yards and 18 scores and also rushed for six more touchdowns last season as the Rams starting QB. 
  • The Rams have limited teams through the air, allowing just three of their last 15 opponents to throw for 250 or more yards.
