Bryant downs Merrimack, Gebhart wins first game

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Madison Demand recorded three points as the Bryant University field hockey team earned a 4-3 victory over Merrimack on Monday afternoon at the Bryant Track & Turf Complex.

The victory is the first collegiate head coaching victory for Laura Gebhart. 

Demand notched a goal and an assist to lead a Bryant offensive attack also received goals from Ashley Barron, Kylie Nelson and Kathryn Doorley.

  • Trailing 1-0 in the first quarter, Demand scored with :01 second remaining to tie the game.

  • Q1 5:37 - Merrimack took the lead as Juiane Ohmen received a pass from Lauren Burke and found the back of the cage.
  • Q1 14:59 - Demand was able to bury a strong hit from the left side of the circle just before the buzzer sounded.
  • Q2 17:15 - Ohmen notched her second of the game off a scrum in front to make it 2-1. 
  • Q2 24:52 - Demand played a perfect ball to the stick of Barron who stick-handled to her right before sliding it home.
  • Q3 36:53 - Nelson took a feed about 35 yards out and raced towards the circle, firing home a shot from distance.
  • Q4 45:50 - Doorley was able to find a loose ball in front of the cage and buried it.
