Bryant Men's Basketball Dakota Journal - Day 2
By Mike Niedzwiecki, Senior

Day 1

As we pulled up to our 25 passenger double-prop plane, I knew we were in for a memorable experience.  I joked that it was like my ’92 Oldsmobile with wings.

All I could see was snow-covered crop fields and bison farms for about twenty minutes until we suddenly hit civilization.  Everything about Grand Forks reminds me of the movie “Napoleon Dynamite”.

We ended the day with a scrumptious meal from GF Goodrib’s, which was located directly behind our hotel.

If you are ever in the area, make sure you hit up Goodrib’s.  Jarett and I were lucky enough to experience the delectable aroma of Goodrib’s all night long, as our heater faced the restaurant’s kitchen.    I finished the day by sneaking in a quick game of Mario kart before going to bed.

Day 2

Jarett and I woke up to our room smelling a little better and headed down to the hotel restaurant for some eggs and tots.

Jarett and I snuck in a quick nap (in separate beds) before getting on the bus to head over to the gym for our first practice in North Dakota.

The University had frat houses that you see in movies.  Fraternities seem like a huge deal out here.  It’s not like Bryant where frats get their own townhouse; these frats get legit homes for themselves.   I feel we had a really good practice today.  As Coach Good would say, “we were hopping today”.

Tonight we had a reception at the Ralph Engelstad Stadium with the other seven teams left in the national tournament.

This stadium is the most incredible facility I have ever seen.  They charge visitors to take tours through this building - need I say more.  That’s all I got left in the tank for tonight, we’ve got a 7:30 wakeup call for a 9:00 AM practice tomorrow.
