Pride collects NEC Rookie of the Week honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's basketball freshman Charles Pride (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been selected as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 24, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

Pride earns his second NEC Rookie of the Week honor in his first three weeks of collegiate basketball after averaging 17.5 points per game on 54.2% shooting and adding 5.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Bulldogs.

The freshman from Syracuse scored 25 points in Bryant's Wednesday contest at Drexel, going 11-for-17 from the floor and adding six rebounds. Pride's 25 points in Philadelphia were the most by a Bryant freshman since Adam Grant scored 32 vs. Sacred Heart in 2017 and made Pride the fourth player in Bryant's Division I era to score 25 points in a game without the benefit of a made three-pointer.

Pride is second on the Bulldogs in scoring this season at 12.7 points per game on 52.3% from the field and ranks third on the team in rebounding at 5.1 per game.

Bryant returns to action against New Hampshire Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Durham, New Hampshire. The game can be seen on ESPN3.
