Green collects Bryant's eighth NEC rookie honor of 2019-20

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's basketball freshman Michael Green III (Bronx, N.Y.) has collected Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, as announced Tuesday by the NEC office.

Green averaged 16.3 points per game in a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs that included a victory over first-place Merrimack and the program's first win at St. Francis Brooklyn. The freshman from the Bronx scored at least 13 points in all three games on the week, including a career-high 23 Friday night in Brooklyn Heights. Green dished out a career-high eight assists Sunday against Sacred Heart and averaged 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game on the week.

Bryant has won eight of the 16 NEC Rookie of the Week awards handed out this season, with Green's two joining three each from freshmen Benson Lin (New Taipei City, Taiwan) and Charles Pride (Syracuse, N.Y.). The eight awards on the year extends the program record Green helped break last week.

The Bulldogs return to action Thursday with a trip to the Garden State to face Fairleigh Dickinson at 7 p.m. The game can be seen on NEC Front Row.
