Bulldogs fall to Terriers on Wednesday afternoon

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Redshirt senior Peter Kiss had 21 points and junior Chris Childs added 19 but St. Francis Brooklyn closed the game on a 30-12 run, earning a 93-91 victory over the Bryant University men's basketball team on Wednesday afternoon.

Kiss finished 6-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, while Childs made 5-of-9 from three on the afternoon. Redshirt junior Luis Hurtado Jr. posted 13 points, five boards and two assists, sophomore Michael Green III had 11 points and six assists and classmate Charles Pride posted 11 points and six boards to give the Black and Gold five in double figures.

• With Bryant leading 66-59 with 10:52 left, Childs scored 11 points in a two minute span to give Bryant a 16-point cushion.
• St. Francis Brooklyn responded with a 30-12 run to close the game. The Terriers held Bryant to just 2-of-13 from the field over the final eight minutes.   

How it Happened

• Bryant and St. Francis Brooklyn were tied 19-19 with 9:03 left in the first half when the Black and Gold ripped off a 22-11 run.
• A pair of baskets from Hall Elisias started the run before a pair of offensive rebounds from Pride added some extra energy.
• Pride turned the first into a putback and then fed Kiss for a deep three to make it 29-23.
• Hurtado Jr. then took over, scoring seven straight points in the paint to make it 36-28.
• Childs closed out the half with a three from the corner as the time ran out.
• Bryant's lead hovered around 10 to start the second half before Nathaniel Stokes and Kiss hit back-to-back threes, making it a 14-point game with 14:49 to go.
• The Terriers pulled seven before Childs fueled a 13-4 run with 11 points over a two minute stretch. He started the run with a three, made a driving layup and then followed with another trifecta at the 9:26 mark. After a layup from Hurtado Jr., Childs capped the run with another three ball.
• SFC's Rob Higgins would answer that trifecta with a three of his own, energizing the Terriers' 30-12 run. He would add eight points down the stretch to lead the way.
• St. Francis retook the lead on a Larry Moreno layup with 2:16 left and then pushed ahead by three on a David Muenkat dunk and an ensuing technical foul for flopping.
• The Bulldogs then had a chance to tie in the final five seconds but were only able to make two-of-three from the line after a foul while attempting a three.

• Bryant finished the game 30-of-64 (47 percent) from the field, 11-of-25 (44 percent) from three and 20-of-27 (74 percent) from the line.
• The Bulldogs were outrebounded, 40-32.
