Green III named to Lou Henson Award watch list

BOSTON, Mass. – Bryant University men's basketball sophomore Michael Green III was named to the Lou Henson Award midseason watch list on Tuesday.

The Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award, which is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I college basketball, honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons.

Players on teams from the following conferences are eligible for the award: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot League, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.

Green III leads the Bulldogs with 18.3 points per game and is also averaging 4.4 assists per game and 4.2 rebounds per game. He is the only player from the Northeast Conference on the midseason watch list.

The Bulldogs are off to a 10-3 start overall and are currently in first place in the NEC with a 6-2 record. Bryant's eight-game start in league play matches its best since joining the NEC for the 2009-10 season.

Bryant returns from a 14-day layoff this weekend, traveling to Fairleigh Dickinson for games on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31.
