Bryant falls to Coastal Carolina in CBI

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Chris Childs scored a season-high 24 points and Peter Kiss recorded a double-double but the Bryant University men's basketball team saw its season come to a close with a 93-82 loss against Coastal Carolina in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational. 

Bryant finishes one of its most successful seasons in program history with a 15-7 overall record. The Bulldogs were making their second postseason appearance in DI program history. 

Childs scored 24 on 4-of-7 shooting from three, Kiss posted 12 points and 10 boards and Charles Pride recorded 17 points, five boards and four assists. Michael Green III was Bryant's fourth player in double figures, finishing with 12.

  • Coastal Carolina built a large lead in the first half with an 14-0 run. The run was highlighted by four-straight Chanticleer threes.    

How it Happened

  • Hall Elisias gave Bryant an early lead with his first three pointer of the season. 
  • Leading 10-9 at the 14:29 mark, Garrick Green hit a pair of free throws to start an 14-0 run. Tyrik Dixon would hit two of the four threes to make it 24-9. 
  • Erickson Bans drilled a three off a CCU turnover to make it an 11-point game late in the half.
  • Coastal then opened a 23-point lead at the start of the second half but the Bulldogs were able to chip away. 
  • Childs started the comeback with a three at the 16:50 mark. 
  • Green III then scored five-straight points and Pride followed with four of his own to make it 69-54. 
  • Bans followed with his second three of the game to make it a 12-point game with 10:58 to play.
  • A Pride layup brought the deficit to 10 but CCU answered with a quick 5-0 run. 
  • Bryant would get it to 10 once more but the Chanticleers answered with a 6-0 run.

  • Bryant finished the game 29-of-72 (.403) from the field, 10-of-31 (.323) from three and 14-of-16 (.875) from the line.
  • Bryant was outrebounded 53-31.
  • Childs led Bryant with 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting. He made 4-of-7 from three and added three rebounds.
  • Kiss recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. 
  • Pride had 17 points, five boards and four assists. 
  • Green III posted 12 points. 
  • Elisias recorded seven points and Bans added six.
