Kiss, Hall, Sour lead Bryant past SFU on Monday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Peter Kiss flirted with a triple-double and Hall Elisias electrified the Smithfield night with three alley-oop dunks as the Bryant University men's basketball team defeated Saint Francis U, 82-52, at the Chace Athletic Center.

With the win, the Bulldogs move to .500 overall for the first time this season and are now 5-1 in Northeast Conference play.

The league's leading scorer heading into the night, Kiss scorched the twine to the tune of 31 points, his third 30-point night of the season. He added nine rebounds, six assists and three steals in 31 minutes. Elisias posted his second double-double of the year with 12 points and 11 boards, while Charles Pride had 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Adham Eleeda finished with 10 points and five boards.

Key Moments

  • Bryant used back-to-back dunks to highlight a late first-half charge and set the tone for the rest of the way. Elisias threw down a monstrous two-hand slam from Kiss and Kiss followed with a two-handed flush off an SFU turnover.            

How it Happened

  • Kiss scored five of Bryant's first six points and then Elisias and Pride took over. Elisias slammed home a Pride lob and Pride followed with a triple on the next possession to make it 11-1 and force an SFU timeout.
  • Bryant's lead was 12 with 6:00 to go when Kiss served up Elisias for a rim-shaking two-hander. Kiss then pressured a turnover and flushed it on the other end to make it 28-12.
  • Kiss went on to score the final six points of the half for the Black and Gold to make it 32-15 at the break.
  • Bryant then opened the flood gates to start the second half, going on a 23-11 run in the first six minutes. The Bulldogs hit 8-of-11 from the field and 4-of-5 from thre during the stretch. Pride completed an and-1, and Kiss and Eleeda followed with back-to-back triples to jump start it. Kiss then hit a step-back three from the top and Eleeda followed with a three from the corner to make it 55-26 with 13:41 to go.
  • Elisias' final alley-oop of the night was a one-handed throw down off the lob from Kiss at the 6:04 mark.
  • Kiss surpassed the 30-point mark for the third time this year with a step-back three in front of the courtside fans.

  • Bryant finished 30-of-74 (40.5 percent) from the field, 11-of-38 (28.9 percent) from three and 11-of-14 (78.6 percent) from the line.
  • Bryant outrebounded SFU, 49-39.
  • The Bulldogs turned the ball over just nine times and finished with 38 points in the paint. Bryant's defense forced 15 SFU turnovers and held the Red Flash to 33.8 percent from the field.
  • Bryant also held the Red Flash to just 4-of-25 from three.
  • Kiss led all scorers with 31 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field. He was 5-of-10 from three and canned 6-of-7 from the line. Kiss also added nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.
  • Elisias finished with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. He had two blocks.
  • Pride scored 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists.
  • Eleeda scored 10 points and added five boards.
  • Luis Hurtado Jr. had four points, three rebounds, three assists and didn't turn the ball over in 30 minutes.

  • Bryant is now 12-15 against SFU. The Bulldogs have won the last two.  
  • Bryant improved to 5-1 at home this year and is 15-2 at home the last two seasons.    
  • The 30-point margin of victory matches Bryant's largest victory in DI program history.
  • Kiss scored 30+ points for the third time this season, the first Bulldog with as many as three in a season since Dyami Starks did it five times in 2013-14.
  • The 5 three-pointers were a career-high for Kiss.  
  • Kiss posted his 32nd double-figure scoring game in 35 outings as a Bulldog.
  • Kiss leads the NEC with 21.2 ppg and is averaging 24.2 ppg in league play.
  • Hall Elisias now has 427 career rebounds, jumping into fifth place in DI program history. He surpassed both Marcel Pettway and Joe O'Shea on Monday.
  • Elisias also posted his second double-double of the year and the sixth of his career.
  • Pride now has 40 career double-digit scoring efforts.
  • Pride pushed his career marks to 779 points and 419 rebounds. He moved into 13th place in DI program history in scoring, surpassing Hunter Ware. His 419 rebounds are now tied with Pettway for seventh.
