Grasso, Kiss garner ECAC honors
DANBURY, Conn. -- Bryant University men's basketball head coach Jared Grasso was named the ECAC Coach of the Year, while Peter Kiss was named to the All-ECAC First Team, the conference announced on Friday.
Grasso guided the Black and Gold to its best season in DI program history this past winter. The Bulldogs won a DI program record 22 games and claimed the program's first-ever regular-season and tournament titles. Bryant started the year 4-7 but went on to win 18 of its final 21 games to finish 22-10. The Black and Gold finished 15-2 in the NEC, defeating Wagner on the final day of the regular season to clinch their first-ever regular season title. Bryant then won three-straight games in the NEC Tournament, defeating the Seahawks in the championship game to secure the program's first-ever tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Kiss was a big reason for the Bulldogs' success this year as he produced one of the greatest offensive seasons in program history. He finished the year as the nation's leading scorer with 25.2 ppg, scoring a DI program record 680 points. Kiss added 5.8 rpg and 3.2 apg to become the first player since 2009 to average more than 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He posted 10 30-point games and reached 1,000 points in just 48 games as a Bulldog, the fastest in DI program history.
