Dwayne Pina recently completed his first year working as an assistant coach under Tim O'Shea and his fourth with the Bryant University men's basketball team in 2008-09.

During the past season, Pina played a key role in scouting as well as working with the team's perimeter players. 

Pina joined the Bryant coaching staff in 2005-06 after spending a year as an assistant coach at nearby Rhode Island College under coach Jack Perry.

During Pina's first season at Rhode Island College, the Anchormen posted a 20-9 record and finished the year as co-champions of the Little East Conference and qualifying for the Championship Game of the ECAC New England Division III tournament.

As an undergraduate, Pina joined the Boston College men's basketball team as a walk-on prior to the 1997-98 season and earned an athletic scholarship midway through that year.

He played in 78 games for the Eagles' during his career, making 38 starts, as a guard. In 1998-99, he played in and started all 27 of the Eagles' games, averaging 4.5 assists per game, which ranked him seventh in the Big East Conference. Pina was named Team Defensive MVP in 1998, and earned the Top Playmaker honor in 1999.

In addition to his accomplishments on the court, Pina does his best to serve the local community. He was a director at the Boston College Basketball Camp during the summer from 1997-99, providing children with an interest in basketball with the fundamental knowledge and training of the sport.

He earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Boston College in 2001. He resides in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
