A native of Smithfield, R.I. and 2002 graduate of Providence College, Kurbec completed his second season at Bryant as an assistant coach under Tim O'Shea. Prior to working with the Bulldogs, he spent 10 seasons with the Friar men's basketball team. As an undergraduate, Kurbec served as a team manager for four years (1998-2002) before moving to the position of graduate assistant from 2002-05. In 2005, Kurbec was named director of basketball operations where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the men's basketball office.
In addition to monitoring the team's academic progress as the program's liaison with the office of academic services, Kurbec was the co-director of the Tim Welsh Summer Basketball Camp.
A 1998 graduate of Smithfield High School and 2002 graduate of
Providence, where he later earned his master's degree in business
in 2005, Kurbec has worked as a youth basketball coach for the
Rhode Island CYO and AAU leagues from 1997-02 and has also coached
at the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camps in 2004-05.
