ChampionsGate, Fla. - Although not eligible to compete for the Northeast Conference tournament title, the Bryant University golf team is making some noise at their first ever conference tournament championship, as they sit third with a two-day total of 597 to sit in third place. The Bulldogs shot a 302 in round two on Saturday after a 295 in the first round on Friday, putting them two-strokes behind Long Island for second and five-strokes behind Sacred Heart for first.

Jason Thresher (West Suffield, Conn.) shot his second-straight round of even-par, 72, golf, standing in sixth place individually with a 144. He is seven-strokes off the overall lead. Scott Congdon (Foxboro, Mass.) also put himself in the top-10, shooting a 73 on Saturday to give him a two-day total of three-over-par 147 and tie him for tenth.

Mike Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) shot a 77 to tie him for 15th overall, and Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished with a second round score of 80 to come in 23rd and round out the scoring for Bryant.

The Bulldogs will play in the final of the tournament on Sunday, as they look to claim Bryant's President's Cup for the spring season, which goes to the team with the highest winning percentage against Division I competition at the school. The squad will need to finish in fourth place or higher to take home the trophy.
