Slade earns second NEC award of the spring

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University junior golfer McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) has been named the Northeast Conference Golfer of the Month, the league announced Wednesday.

Slade's stellar spring season continued over the weekend at the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational hosted by UConn. Slade carded an even-par 216 to finish ninth in a field of 76 golfers and help lead the Bulldogs to a fourth place finish. The Saunderstown, R.I., native shot a three-under 69 in the opening round. Slade, a two-time NEC Golfer of the Month, has now finished at or under par in three straight tournaments and has posted top-two finishes in two of his last three outings. He leads Bryant with three second-place showings and six top-10 placements on the year.

Slade and the Bulldogs return to action for the Northeast Conference Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., set to begin this Saturday, April 30.
