Golf concludes season at NCAA Washington Regional

SAMMAMISH, Wash. –  Seniors Ryan Tombs (Bedford, NH) and John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) each shot a final round 77 to lead the Bryant University men's golf team at the NCAA Regional Championships Wednesday here at Aldarra Golf Club. 

Bryant, competing in the NCAA Division I Championships for the second time in program history, finished 14th overall with a three-round score of 953.

Tombs carded 11 pars on the day, including a beautiful chip in from just off the green on the 434-yard par 4 14th.  He would close out the round with a birdie on the ninth thanks to a great tee shot that landed within two feet from pin. 

Roberts bounced back from Tuesday's second round with a 77, highlighted by nine pars and a great chip in for eagle on the par-5 12th

Teammate McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, RI) closed out his career with a round of 80 for the Bulldogs.  The senior had one birdie on the front and finished with two more birdies and great eagle on the par-5, 503 yard seventh.

Sophomore Ryan Brown (Bedford, NH) also carded a final round score of 80 with 10 pars including one on the finishing par-3 ninth.  Freshman Will Del Biaggio (San Jose, Calif.) closed out his first NCAA tournament with a round of 84 including a birdie on the seventh.

The University of Southern California was the overall winner with a three-day total of 849, six shots ahead of runner up Kent State which finished with a score of 855.  Florida State and Alabama tied for third while Penn State took home fifth.  The top five teams from the regional advances to the NCAA Championship in Illinois next week.

Penn State's Cole Miller earned medalist honors with a seven under par 206 (69-69-68).
