Bryant takes third at Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate with three top-15 scores

SIMSBURY, Conn. – Junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.), sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) and sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) posted top-15 scores to lead the Bryant men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate Sunday.

COACH BLANCHARD'S COMMENTS
 "Ryan Brown led the way for us today with a two-over to finish at even par for the day in tough conditions. Two of our sophomores stepped up – Connor Henderson shot two over and Matthew Stafford finished at even par in the final round.

"It was a solid start to the season and we're looking forward to getting back out there next week at Hartford's event."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Bulldogs finished third in the 13-team field, 13 strokes back of team champion Fordham and two back of second-place Bentley.
  • Brown finished third in the field of 75 golfers with an even par over two days. The junior shot a 74 Sunday and finished four back of individual champion James Mongey of Fordham.
  • Henderson followed Saturday's 72 with a 74 to finish in a tie for ninth.
  • Stafford was one of just eight golfers at even par or better Sunday, carding a 72 to finish tied for 15th. Graduate John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) also shot a 72 to jump to a tie for 21st in the final individual standings.
  • Sophomore Payton Kim (Palatine, Ill.) improved by three strokes Sunday for a 75, while junior Jake Ratti (Hanover, Mass.) jumped six strokes and recorded a 78 on the final day.
