Bryant finishes fifth at NEC Championship; Roberts shoots 70 Sunday to place sixth

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Graduate student John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) placed sixth overall in his final collegiate tournament as the Bryant University men's golf team posted a fifth-place result at the 2018 Northeast Conference Championship, which concluded Sunday at LPGA International.

Bryant recorded a 294 (+6) in Sunday's round - the second-best team score of the final 18 holes.

Central Connecticut captured the team title, while the Blue Devils' Anthony Sabastianelli and Sacred Heart's Saptak Talwar finished tied for first at even par.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Roberts turned in a 70 in the final round to finish sixth. He recorded a 33 on the front nine and five birdies in the round.
  • Sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) posted a 75 and finished 11th overall. Sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) also carded a 75 to place 20th.
  • Junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) posted a 74 Sunday to move up to a tie for 23rd.
  • Sophomore Payton Kim (Palatine, Ill.) finished 37th after a 78 Sunday.
