Bryant opens play at Hartford Hawks Invitational

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – The Bryant University men's golf team heads back to Connecticut to participate Hartford Hawks invitational after a sixth-place finish at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate in Connecticut last weekend. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by the University of Hartford at the Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn.

This year marks the tournaments 10th year of existence and will be played on the golf club's par 72, 6,992-yard course and begin with 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. Both Monday and Tuesday have a shotgun start time of 8 a.m.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs will be led by senior Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) who was Bryant's lowest scorer at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate last weekend when he finished tied for 12th with a 2-over par 72-74/146.
  • Junior Nick Piersall (Portland, Conn.) and senior Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) will be playing in the second and third slots, respectively. At last year's tournament, Piersall lead the way for the Bulldogs shooting a 1-under par 70-73/143.
  • Bryant finished 8th out of 20 teams last season in the tournament, finishing with a 10-over par score of 586. The Bulldogs finished second out of the five NEC teams.
  • Sophomore Tyler Hahn (Avon, Conn.) posted a career-best at last year's event, finishing with a 1-over par, 75-70/145 and tying for 28th place. He will be playing in the No. 4 slot for the Bulldogs.
  • Freshman Jonah Klaasen (Westlake Village, Calif.) rounds out the starting five for Byrant making his first career appearance in the lineup. Last weekend, Klaasen played as an individual and had a seven stroke improvement from the first to second round.
  • Senior Mario Wilson (Taunton, Mass.) and junior Doug Champagne (Bow, N.H.) will also be competing as individuals in this event.
