Bryant faces Hobart in NEC Semifinals Wednesday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The third-seeded Bryant University men's lacrosse team will face second-seeded Hobart in the Northeast Conference Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon in Geneva, N.Y.. Faceoff is set for 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday's game will be streamed live on NECFrontRow.com.

Bryant will be making its ninth appearance in the NEC Championships, having won five titles (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017). The Bulldogs are 10-3 all-time in the NEC Tournament, having faced Hobart four previous times. The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the NEC Championship on Saturday against either top-seeded Saint Joseph's or fourth-seeded Long Island University.

THE SERIES
Bryant and Hobart will be meeting for the second time this season and the 14th time in program history. The Statesmen earned an 11-10 victory back on April 3 but the Black and Gold still lead the all-time series, 7-6. Bryant and Hobart will be playing in the NEC Tournament for the fifth time. The Bulldogs have beaten the Statemen for the title twice (2014 and 2017).  

SCOUTING THE STATESMEN
Hobart finished the regular season with a 6-2 NEC record, grabbing the No. 2 seed with a 14-12 victory over Sacred Heart last Saturday. Ryan Archer leads Hobart with 30 points (15g, 15a), while Derek Madonna has scored a team-high 18 goals. Adam Shea has won 65 percent of his faceoffs and Kevin Holtby has played every minute in net for Hobart this year. 

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • The Bulldogs enter the tournament at 7-3 overall and 5-2 in NEC play. Bryant closed its season with a 20-17 victory over LIU to earn the No. 3 seed. 
  • Marc O'Rourke has scored seven points (6g, 1a) in each of the last two games. He missed the first eight games of the year.  
  • O'Rourke became just the fourth player in DI program history to reach the 100-goal mark, entering the tournament with 103.  
  • Logan McGovern leads Bryant with 38 points and is coming off back-to-back eight-point outings. McGovern is second in the league with 4.75 ppg.  
  • Bennett Abladian ranks 12th nationally among freshman with 30 points (22g, 8a). He enters the tournament having scored nine goals in his last two games. 
  • Bryant's defense continues to be led by LaJhon Jones, Brody Rule and Ryan Baker. The trio has combined for 58 ground balls and 37 caused turnovers.
