Brad Ross adds Chris Gabrielli, completes coaching staff for 2022-23

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University men's lacrosse head coach Brad Ross has announced his coaching staff for the 2022-23 season with Chris Gabrielli joining Travis Harrington as assistant coaches for the upcoming year.

Gabrielli brings 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, including the last 10 as the head coach at Providence College, to Smithfield, while Harrington has spent the last five years on the Bryant sidelines.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Travis and Chris join me on this journey," Ross said. "I have very strong relationships with both and trust them implicitly."

Gabrielli posted a 61-81 career record on the sidelines at Providence, helping the Friars qualify for the Big East Tournament on three occasions. He was named New England Coach of the Year in 2013 and the Big East Coach of the Year in 2017. Gabrielli coached 20 All-Big East selections, two Big East Goalies of the Year, two All-Americans and had four players drafted in either the MLL or NLL.

"I am thrilled and honored to join the proud Bryant Lacrosse program," Gabrielli said. "A standard of excellence has been well established, and the commitment level to lacrosse is eye-opening. Brad Ross is an elite leader and I am excited to work alongside him and Travis Harrington."

Prior to his time at Providence, Gabrielli spent six years as an assistant at Duke (2007-12). During that six-year period, Gabrielli helped the Blue Devils reach the NCAA Final Four six times, the National Championship Game twice and was a part of Duke's 2010 National Championship Team. Duke also won five ACC Regular-Season titles and four ACC Tournament titles in his six years. The Blue Devils' defense ranked in the top 25 nationally all six years under Gabrielli, while seven players earned a total of 11 All-America honors with Gabrielli's tutelage.

"Coach Gabs is one of the best tacticians and motivators I have had the pleasure of coming across during my time in collegiate athletics," Ross said. "Our student-athletes will benefit greatly from his experience and expertise."

A 2012 graduate of Bryant, Harrington returns for his sixth year on the Bulldog sidelines. Harrington has worked with the offense the last five years, producing some of the best offensive seasons in program history. Under Harrington's tutelage, the Bulldogs have featured two NEC Rookies of the Year and eight All-NEC selections in the last two years alone. Bryant's offensive numbers have soared the last two years, producing over 12 goals per game and over 45 shots per game in each season. The Bulldogs' average of 13.61 goals per game in 2021 and 12.07 in 2022 rank 1st and 2nd in DI program history. In 2022, Bryant featured two players with 40+ goals for the first time since 2003.

"I have known Travis since the Fall of 2010 and it has been really special to see him grow over the years," Ross said. "He is detail-oriented, talented and extremely driven; a true Bulldog."
