Paúl scores game-winning goal in OT win against CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. - Luis Fernando Paúl of the Bryant University men's soccer team scored the game-winning goal in the 3-2 double-overtime victory against Central Connecticut today.

" It was a great win we, showed a lot of resilience, happy for Jake that he was able to help us. Overall a really good win for the team, we worked hard, and it showed today on the field."

  • 30th minute - CCSU 1, Bryant 0 - The Blue Devils were awarded a free-kick and then fired a pass which the CCSU forward headed into the top left corner of the net.
  • 50th minute - Bryant 1, CCSU 1 - The Bulldogs earned a corner kick on the right side of the field. Kyle Mabe sent a cross in, which Jake Spaulding leaped for and headed it off the post for the goal.
  • 59th minute - Bryant 2, CCSU 1 - Mabe passed it to Spaulding at the top of the box. Spaulding then sent Rodriguez on a run Rodriguez then rifled a shot past the CCSU goaltender for his first goal of the game.
  • 88th minute - CCSU 2, Bryant 2 - The Blue Devils forward received the ball on the right side of the box, he then rocketed a shot to the top right of the net.
  • 103rd minute - Bryant 3, CCSU 2 - Paúl corralled the rebound after a Bulldogs shot hit off the post. He then dribbled through traffic and slide kicked the ball past the goalie for the game-winning goal.
