Coach Langer is currently the Director of Coaching for the JBS FC Soccer Club, located in Westchester County, New York and will join the Bulldog coaching staff in August of 2009. In addition, Coach Langer currently coaches the JBS FC Boys U-17 Premier Team. The team is currently ranked in the top 50 in the Nation and has won and participated in some of the top tournaments in the country.
In 2006 Coach Langer served as an Assistant Coach at St. John's
University. During his tenure at St. Johns, the team captured the
Big East Championship Crown and gained a top Ten National
Ranking. Before that, Langer was the head coach of the Austin
Posse Professional soccer team. An exhibition club during the 2004
season, the Posse went undefeated and held victories over Mexican
powers Tigris, Chivas, and the Dallas Burn. The Posse completed its
exhibition season with a 7-0-1 mark. The team was comprised of
seven former members of national teams, including three former U.S.
National Team members in Chad Deering, Roy Lassiter, and Ted Eck.
In addition, Ezra Hendrickson (currently with the Columbus Crew),
Blair Scoullar(New Zealand National Team), Jay Mason (Under-17
Canadian National Team), Chad Prince (Under-17 US National
Team/Chicago Fire) and former Rochester Rhino star Mauro Carbajal
rounded out the team.
Coach Langer has also coached at the collegiate Level where he has
served as an assistant coach at the University of Illinois at
Springfield (1992). During his tenure at UIS, the team recorded a
17-3-1 record, qualified for the NAIA National tournament and
finished 6th. His Goalkeeper was named to the All-District and
All-Area Teams.
Langer's collegiate playing experience was split between North
Carolina State University and Sangamon State University. While at
NC State, Langer led the Wolfpack into the NCAA Tournament and a
top ten ranking. While at Sangamon State, Langer led his team
into the 1988 NAIA National tournament where they defeated Alderson
Broaddus College, 3-1, in the Championship game and were crowned
NAIA National Champions.
After college, Langer moved on into the professional ranks where he
spent several years with Beitar Jerusalem in the Israeli First
Division. He also had brief stints with Ferrol in the Spanish
Second Division (B) and Samsung in the Korean First Division. He
spent several months training with the US National Team and
traveled with the team to Central America.
Coach Langer currently resides in Westchester County with his wife,
Bonnie, and their two children, Shira, and Nava.
