Swimmers off to New Rochelle, Divers to Fairfield on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team rounds out its three-meet road swing to begin 2018 on Saturday, when they travel to New Rochelle, N.Y. and take on Iona. The Bryant divers will head to an invitational on Saturday in Fairfield, Conn.

Last Time Out

Sophomore Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) won all four races, the divers swept both boards and the Bulldogs defeated Providence 164-132 last Friday night in downtown Providence. Senior Tavish Boyle (Springfield, N.J.) won all three of his races, including both breaststroke events.

Last Meet with Iona

Mays won all four of his races when the Bulldogs defeated Iona last season, as did classmate Andrew Allen (Bedford, N.H.) in Bryant's 168-94 win over the Gaels. Bryant won 12 of the 14 races in last year's dual meet in Smithfield, R.I.

A bit about the Gaels

  • The Iona men defeated St. Francis Brooklyn 172-31 in their latest meet, extending their win streak to three to start the 2018 season.
  • Junior Matt Anderson earned wins in the 500 free (4:47.37) and 1000 free (10:09.54). Sophomore Conor Mullin and freshman Daniel Hadary also won a pair of races for Iona.
