Bryant welcomes NJIT in first home meet of 2018

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team hosts NJIT in the first of two meets in a row in Smithfield on Friday and Saturday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center Pool and Clark University.

Last Time Out

Graduate student Micah Ornelas (San Diego, Calif.) recorded a school record in the 100 fly and the Bulldogs recorded 10 season-best swims in a 168-126 win over Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.

Last Meet with NJIT

In a tri-meet with the Highlanders and Saint Peter's, the Bulldogs defeated NJIT 222-125 to help Bryant improve to 6-0 on the 2017 season. Sophomore Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) won all five of his events on the weekend and helped with two relay wins. Classmate Trevor Hazlewood (Corpus Christi, Texas) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter.

A bit about the Highlanders

NJIT has split the four dual meets on its 2018 schedule so far, defeating Mount St. Mary's and Manhattan, but most recently falling to UMass last weekend by a final of 201-97.

The Highlanders were led by a pair of youngsters, sophomore Mattheau Bonner and freshman Kai Legband, who each won a pair of events in the contest on Saturday.
