Mays, Hazlewood set to compete in postseason

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomores Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) and Trevor Hazlewood (Corpus Christi, Texas) will represent the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team in the postseason next week.

Mays will swim at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, while Hazlewood will become the first male diver in program history to compete at the NCAA Championship Zone A Diving Meet. The CSCAA NIC will run from March 14-16 at Cleveland State, while the Zone A diving meet will run from March 11-13 in Annapolis, Md.

Mays won a silver medal in the 100 back, a bronze in the 200 back and helped four relays win medals at the MAAC Championships last month. Earlier this year, Mays represented the Virgin Islands at the FINA World Championships.

Hazlewood became the first male diver in program history to medal at the MAAC Championships and will now be the first to compete in the zones. He earned a bronze in the 1-meter dive and finished fifth in the 3-meter dive. Hazlewood holds school records in both the 1-meter (317.40) and 3-meter (320.70).
