Mays and Groenewold earn NEC Honors

Somerset, N.J. - The Northeast Conference awarded two Bryant University men's swimming and diving team members weekly honors on Thursday afternoon.

Matthew Mays was named the NEC Swimmer of the Week for his efforts against Long Island on Saturday. Mays won both the 100 and 200 back with times of 52.84 and 1:55.31. He also was apart of the winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Freshman Calvin Groenewold had a great debut for the Bulldogs and received the NEC Rookie of the Week. Groenewold placed first in the 200 breast by posting a time of 59.17 and earned second place in the 100 breast by touching the wall at 59.17. He also was on the same team as Mays that won the 200 medley relay.

The Bulldogs will travel to Providence for a meet this Saturday against the Friars.
