SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team returns to the Ocean State this weekend with a match against in-state rival Brown on Saturday in Providence.

Coach Gendron's Thoughts

"We have historically struggled with Brown. They are consistently ranked in the region and carry a roster of highly ranked players. They are well coached and are quality opponent. Our goal going into Saturday is to compete at the same level we did over the past weekend and let that experience dictate our mindset."

Series History

  • Bryant is 0-11 against the Bears since moving to the DI ranks in 2008-2009.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant went 2-4 during its six-game tour of Oklahoma last weekend.
  • The Bulldogs faced three nationally ranked opponents, No. 19 Cal, No. 18 Oklahoma and No. 15 Oklahoma State.
  • Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) went 2-1 in singles over the weekend, earning a win over Billy Griffith from Cal. Griffith was ranked No. 49 in the country in the fall.
  • Artur Jakubowski (Dallas, Texas) also went 2-1 on the weekend, posting a 2-0 mark at No. 4 singles.
  • Kuhar and Jakubowski also teamed up in doubles to go 2-1. The duo also won the first set against one the nation's top doubles teams before the match went unfinished.
  • Luke Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Grant Pertile (Edgartown, Mass.) also went 2-1 at doubles.

Scouting the Bears

  • Saturday will be Brown's first dual match of the spring season.
  • The Bears are coming off a 2016-17 season that saw them post an 11-11 record.
  • Ben Collier went 7-2 during the fall season, including a 2-1 mark against Bryant.
