Bryant falls to East Carolina, 4-2, Sunday

CUMBERLAND, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team fell to East Carolina, 4-2, on Sunday, wrapping up a busy week for the Black and Gold.   

Bryant (6-6) went 4-2 in six matches over a five-day stretch. That included victories over Merrimack, MIT, Xavier and Wright St.

How it Happened

  • Bryant got off to a good start, taking the doubles point from the Pirates. Wilson Dong (Bradenton, Fla.) and Trent Massam (Wellington, New Zealand) won 6-3 at No. 1 and brothers Mike Plutt (Weston, Fla.) and Scott Plutt (Weston, Fla.) clinched the point with a 6-3 win at No. 2.
  • East Carolina was able to battle back in singles, winning at 2, 3, 4 and 5 to clinch the match.
  • Dong completed a strong performance with a three-set victory at No. 1. After splitting the first two sets, Dong won the third set, 6-3.
