Kuhar named NEC Player of the Month

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis senior Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Month on Thursday.

Kuhar, who is ranked 77th nationally by the ITA, is off to an 8-2 start this spring going up against the Bulldogs' typically challenging slate of competition. Among his notable #1 singles victims were Texas Tech's Tommy Mylnikov (6-3, 6-0), Wright State and All-Horizon League player Param Pun (6-2, 6-1), Brown's Peter Litsky (6-3, 6-0), Army's Myles Conlin (6-2, 7-6 (5) and Xavier's Brett Winters (6-3, 6-2). He was up a set on Dartmouth's Charlie Broom - the #34 player in the country - when their match was halted, and also dropped a three-setter to #84 Majed Kilani of Tulsa. Kuhar, the two-time reigning NEC Player of the Year, also posted an 8-2 mark in #1 doubles and upped his season singles record to 15-6. The Smithfield, RI native is a two-time NEC Player of the Month award winner this season.

The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend with three matches. Bryant faces Brandeis and Binghamton on Saturday before wrapping the weekend up with Colgate on Sunday.
