Bryant splits season-opening doubleheader Friday
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Bryant University men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 5-2 victory over Lamar on Friday morning.
Bryant's first day of competition ended with a 7-0 loss to No. 15 Oklahoma St. Friday started a stretch of 12 matches in 17 days for the Black and Gold.

"Great win over Lamar. We showed a lot of toughness against a very good team. Very pleased with the start. All in all a great day today. A win over Lamar and we stretched a top-20 opponent in several spots. We'll have a good day of practice on Saturday before another doubleheader against a great opponent on Sunday in Tulsa."
How It Happened (Lamar)
- The Cardinals earned the doubles point with victories at 1 and 3.
- Guido Argentini (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Alexander Schou (Holte, Denmark) were victorious at 2, 6-4.
- Bryant was able to rebound and win five of the six singles matches (1, 3, 4, 5, 6).
- Andrew Pregel (Cincinnati, Ohio) got the Black and Gold on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at 6.
- Argentini and Schou then posted back-to-back wins at 3 and 5 to give Bryant a 3-2 lead in the match.
- Wilson Dong (Bradenton, Fla.) secured the victory with a thrilling three-set victory at the top spot. He won the first set 6-4 and then won a third-set tiebreak (7-6 (5)) to get the win.
- Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) closed the match with a three-set win at 4.
How It Happened (No. 15 Oklahoma St.)
- Oklahoma St. won all seven matches in the night cap.
- In doubles, Dong and Trent Massam (Wellington, New Zealand) battled to 4-5 before the match went unfinished.
- In singles, Ortiz-Garcia pushed the No. 87 ranked player to the limit, falling 6-4, 6-4.
